FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is the main focus of our FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) preseason. We use FTC as a method to gain more knowledge that we can use for FRC, and to build up team for the year and years to come. We make certain decisions based on what it most applicable to FRC and what we will learn the most from. FTC is also a major part of the teaching and learning processes for new and returning members. For new members, being part of FTC gives them something tangible to aim towards. They can see direct results of what they are learning, which motivates new members to work harder. For returning members, FTC is when they pass down knowledge to the new members. It also serves as a way to give potential FRC leaders experience leading a team and having responsibility.
